Everything most guests ask

Booking & payment

How do I book the villa?

+
Send an enquiry via our Bookings page with your dates and party size. We'll confirm availability and send a booking form. A 30% deposit secures the dates; the balance is due eight weeks before arrival.

What is the cancellation policy?

+
Simple and fair: the 30% deposit is fully refundable up to 60 days before arrival, once we've re-let all of the dates booked — highly likely in July and August. Full payment within 60 days is also 100% refundable, once we've re-let all of the days booked (again, highly likely in July and August). Any days not re-booked by other guests are non-refundable.

Is a security deposit required?

+
Yes — a refundable €1,000 deposit is held against your card on arrival and released within seven days of departure. It would only ever be drawn on for damage to items like the chandeliers or televisions; crockery, glasses, and normal wear and tear are never charged. We've never needed to make a claim against it.
Arrival & departure

What are check-in and check-out times?

+
Check-in from 4pm, check-out by 10am. We can often accommodate an earlier arrival or later departure — just ask when you book.

How do I get from the airport?

+
Faro airport is one hour by car. We can arrange a private transfer (€95 one way for up to 6), recommend a local car hire company we trust, or help you book a taxi. Most guests prefer to hire a car to explore.

Who will greet us on arrival?

+
Our housekeeper Maria meets every arrival in person, shows you around, explains the quirks of the house, and leaves a welcome hamper in the kitchen. Her number is pinned to the fridge — she lives five minutes away.

Is the pool heated?

+
Yes — pool heating is available at €50 per day and can be arranged in advance or during your stay. The pool reaches a comfortable 28°C once up to temperature.

Is there air conditioning?

+
Yes, silent air-conditioning in every bedroom and both living rooms. The house is built with thick stone walls so stays naturally cool, but AC is there for July and August.

Is Wi-Fi reliable?

+
Yes — fast fibre, reaching every room and the pool terrace. Several guests have worked remotely from the villa without any trouble.

Is the villa suitable for young children?

+
Yes, but with supervision. The pools are not fenced, and there are stairs, balconies and an ice bath to consider — young children must be watched at all times. In the living room the chandelier, rugs and television are each worth several thousand euros, so we ask that children not be left unattended in that room. A travel cot, high-chair, stair-gates and children's crockery are all provided on request.
Food, drink & services

Is there a welcome hamper?

+
Yes — a bottle of local rosé, a bottle of vinho verde, a jar of local orange-blossom honey, a loaf of bread, olives, cheese, fruit, milk, and fresh eggs. Enough for your first evening and breakfast.

Can you organise a chef or a massage?

+
Yes — we work with two wonderful private chefs (one Portuguese, one more Mediterranean), a mobile masseuse, a yoga teacher, and a babysitter. Costs are quoted directly and paid locally.

Is the house cleaned during our stay?

+
A mid-stay clean and fresh linen change is included in every stay of a week or more. Additional cleans can be added at €60 per visit.
House rules

Are pets allowed?

+
Well-behaved dogs are considered on a case-by-case basis, with a €150 cleaning supplement. Please ask before booking.

Is smoking permitted?

+
Not inside the house. Smoking is welcome on the outdoor terraces, where we provide ashtrays.

Can we host a party or event?

+
Unfortunately not — we have very nice neighbours whom we wish to remain friends with. Intimate family celebrations within your own party are of course fine; larger gatherings or events with additional guests aren't something we can host.

Is there a quiet time at night?

+
This is a very quiet, tranquil corner of the Algarve, and the calm of the place is a big part of why guests love it. To keep it that way — and to stay on good terms with our lovely neighbours — we ask that from 11pm all guests move indoors and close doors and windows, so that any noise (music, late conversations, children still up) stays inside the house. Sound carries further than you'd expect here at night, and a little care keeps everyone happy.
